Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

Manitoba is growing through immigration. Over the last 10 years, almost 130,000 people from all over the world have made Manitoba, Canada their new home. Following are the streams that are currently eligible under Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program:

Applicants in this category are accepted from qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in Manitoba and have been offered a permanent job with their Manitoba employer.
Applicants meet the following requirements:
– Intention to settle in Manitoba 
– Have worked for at least six months in Manitoba, under a Work Permit
– Have a full-time, long term employment offer from a Manitoba employer for whom they have been working. Note the employer must be incorporated or registered and operating as a business in Manitoba
– The job offer must comply with the prevailing regional wage rates, must not be in conflict with existing collective bargaining agreements and comply with Manitoba’s employment standards.
– The applicant must meet the required qualifications for the position including having sufficient English or French proficiency

Skilled Workers Overseas must meet one of the following minimum eligibility criteria in order to be considered:
– Have a Manitoba Supporter, which could be a relative or friend of the applicant who is willing and able to review and endorse the applicant’s plan for settling and finding employment in their destination community. The Manitoba Supporter must be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident who has sufficient ties in Manitoba and who have lived in the province for at least 1 year continuously.
– Have previously worked for at least six months for a Manitoba employer on a full-time basis while having a valid Work Permit in Canada;
– Have attended and completed a post-secondary program of at least one academic year in duration (other than language training) in Manitoba whilst having a valid Study Permit in Canada; or
– Have a Letter of Invitation to apply received directly from the MPNP: Letters of Invitation to apply are extended to eligible applicants after being interviewed as part of an MPNP recruitment mission abroad or the applicant’s exploratory visit to Manitoba if they are able to demonstrate willingness and ability to settle in Manitoba, but do not have specific ties to the province through a friend, relative, past education or past employment in Manitoba.

 

This new program is developed to provide Manitoba graduates who meets the needs of industry with faster pathways to permanent residence.

The BIS allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business investors and entrepreneurs from around the world who have the intent and ability to start or purchase businesses in Manitoba within the first 24 months of arrival in Canada on a temporary work permit. The MPNP-BIS consists of two pathways:
– Entrepreneur Pathway and
– Farm Investor Pathway.
