British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programs

The BC PNP has operated over a decade and during that time it has continually expanded its scope by adding new streams and categories. The BC PNP is currently made up of three streams:

The BC PNP Skills Immigration stream is an economic immigration option intended for people with the skills, experience and qualifications needed by BC employers. This stream is designed for people who are committed to live and work in B.C. and become permanent residents of Canada.

To be eligible for the program, the candidate needs to satisfy the criteria in one of the following categories:
– Skilled Worker-managers, professionals and skilled tradespeople
– Health Care Professional- physicians, registered nurses and other health care workers employed with provincial health authorities
– International Graduate- with a degree or diploma from a Canadian college or university
– International Post Graduate- with master’s or doctoral degree in the natural, applied or health sciences from a B.C. university. Note that for this category only, a job offer is not required
– Entry Level and Semi-Skilled (including employment in the Northeast Development Region of B.C.) – workers in tourism/hospitality, food processing and long-haul trucking.

The Entrepreneur Immigration stream of the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is a path to immigrate to Canada and settle in B.C. for experienced entrepreneurs who can support innovation and economic growth in the province.

This stream, introduced in January 2015, mirrors, the ‘high skill’ categories of the Skills Immigration stream. An applicant must meet the minimum criteria of one of the following categories:
– Skilled Workers
– Health Care Professional
– International Graduates
– International Post-Graduates Category

In addition to meeting BC PNP requirements, all EEBC applicants must meet the minimum criteria for one of the federal economic immigration programs in IRCC’s Express Entry system:
– Federal Skilled Worker Program
– Federal Skilled Trades Program
– Canadian Experience Class

Before an applicant can apply under the Express Entry BC stream, they must have created and posted an Express Entry Profile. Their application, once submitted to the BC PNP, is assessed under the criteria of the Express Entry BC category they applied under on an expedited basis. The approval from the BC PNP allows the applicant to add an additional 600 points to their CRS score under Express Entry and therefore obtain an Invitation to Apply for PR.
